Andre, a spirited 4-year-old hailing from Thailand, became a valued member of our center as he sought our specialized services. Initially, he received assistance on an as-needed basis, but later, the family expressed their desire for overseas services, hoping our dedicated team could offer intensive therapy within the comforts of their homeland.
Following meticulous arrangements, our committed team embarked on a journey to provide Andre with personalized one-on-one intensive services, comprehensive parent and community training, insightful school observations, and dedicated school shadowing.
Notably, Andre's remarkable progress during his in-home sessions can be attributed to the unwavering dedication of his parents. Amid their busy schedules, they prioritized their involvement, actively addressing concerns that spanned various aspects of Andre's daily life. These concerns encompassed his inappropriate play behaviours, an over reliance on parents and caregivers for his self-help routines like handwashing and toileting, as well as his limited speech and communication skills. Additionally, they sought guidance regarding the optimal arrangement of their home environment and the structuring of Andre's time to maximize his learning potential.
Taking into account Andre's unique needs across his home, school, and community environments, our therapist meticulously designed parent training topics and tailored training sessions. The therapist actively engaged Andre's parents in boosting his spontaneous language development across diverse settings, both at home and in the community. Furthermore, they effectively transferred the self-help and toileting routines instilled in Andre to his parents. As a result, Andre swiftly adapted to these routines, increased his spontaneous communication with his parents, and effortlessly applied his handwashing skills in various settings, including school, other therapy sessions, and the home environment.
